Countdown to New York has officially begun. In just one week I will be waking up in Brooklyn BITCHES!!!!!!

(Plus two points if you understand my gif reference)

This will be my first time in New York and I cannot be more thrilled! I went back and forth with myself whether or not I was going to go. I mean, can I really afford another trip...?

No. Not really. But you only live once (that we know of) and I'm not going to sit around regretting missing Afropunk like I did last year with the Essence Fest. I feel the most alive when I am listening to live music that I blast in my car or in the shower everyday... I just love the feeling off the bass in my chest, singing at the top of my lungs. And BABY, this lineup is insane! I listen to over half of the artist and I just know I will be stressing when it comes down to who I can and can't see based on scheduling conflicts/different stages, you know, festival shit. AHH can't wait!

Anywho, like I was saying, you only live once and my bills will get paid and I'll be debt free one day. Life is too short not to enjoy it. My girl hit me up and was like "I got the lodging covered just come." Bless her soul. So I booked my flight. It was cheaper for me to fly in a day or two early, plus I wanted to explore since I'll be in one area for the weekend. Tickets were sold out so I had to get them via a resell site. Smh, I spent so much time debating I coulda got them when they were only $100.

I am a bit overwhelmed just because there is so much that I want to do and see but I know I won't have the time (or funds) to do everything. I have been trying to semi-plan... I'm kind of a go-with-the-flow type of chick when it comes to traveling. As long as I have options or an idea of what I want to do, I'm good.

I think I might spend one day going to art museums and the other just roaming and finding the best mac n cheese or ice cream. (Ugh, I swear I'm going to be dairy free one day.... I already feel myself morphing into a vegan. Lol)

Now for the more STRESSFUL part of planning any trip-- MY OUTFITS!!!

Man, I thought I was doing good with time, but for some reason I kept thinking the festival was the last weekend of Aug... lol nope.

I know the looks I am going for, but now I have to MAKE them!!

Yes. MAKE.

I found a tulle skirt that I fell in love with but it was over $100. I figured I test my skills and bring out my sewing machine. I took one sewing class in high school. I am no seamstress. But I'm willing to give it a shot.

I kinda feel like I'm on Project Runway and Tim Gunn should be checking in on me soon. If he did, this would probably be his reaction after seeing my vision and progress:

This was also a similar to response from the cute older (wiser) lady at Joann Fabric when I was explaining to her what I was trying to do and showed her the picture. Lol This is actually the reaction I got from several people whom I consulted with prior to making my decision about making this bad boy. Everyone I talked to, gave me a face, and said it might be a little laborious and/or tedious for my skill level. Ha. So wish me luck! This has to work because I do NOT have a back up option as this will be a major piece to my look. If it doesn't work..... I'm screwed.

My other look also requires me to sew some shit up. I am making a two piece halter/skirt set out of a 2XL women's top. I think this one will be easy? This shouldn't be any sweat off my back. I mean, I can sew a straight line and that's really all I need for this look. I also need to go get my shirt made, and figure out what I want to do with my hair. I really want long neon orange or rainbow braids but.... you know I work a corporate job. And I am not paying to get my hair done for four days. -__-

I love both looks and can't wait to see how it all comes together. I am nervous but super excited. I have less than 7 days to pull it all together. It's going to be tough but I know I can do it! As far as my outfits for the two days I'll be there beforehand, I've been trying not to stress. I'ma have to make do with what's in my closet.

New York here I come!

P.S. I really miss social media. Esp. Twitter. I hate not live tweeting on all my shows.
