"I won't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever give a fuck

Won't ever, ever, ever give a FUCK"

Here I was sitting (stuck) in traffic, minding my own business, singing at the top of my lungs, with the windows down. Lost in the moment, I glanced over to my left only to see two very amused men staring back at me. Slightly embarrassed, I kept on going. I mean.... I kinda had to, I was singing about not giving a fuck.

Which, by the way, I was jamming out to Ego by Bibi Bourelly. A song that just really resonates with me. And I love the sound of her voice. It's kinda raspy and soulful, yet slightly rock-and-roll-ish.

Lately, I have been on new wave where I only ever want to listen to badass female artist. Many of who I feel like are hella underrated and I want to hear more of, not just when I am alone in my car or working. && I love me some Cardi B, but I would love to see more black and brown women on the charts right now.

With that being said, I would like to share a list of.... (drumroll please)

15 of my

favorite FEMALE artist (right now)

I'm tryna put yall on. lol I am sure you have probably heard of several of them.

(In no particular order.)

If you have ever ridden in my car with my, then chances are you've heard Junglepussy. Pop For You is my shizzzz-nye-eeee. Followed by "Picky Bitch Checklist" and "Bling Bling". If you are an insecure fan, homegirl had a song or two featured during the show.

Makes you feel like boss bitch. Her last album Wash&Set, a bop. The bass in my car really be hitting.

Princess Nokia

I have a new found love for Princess Nokia && I am still sad she didn't perform at Afropunk. (see last post) What I love about her is how beautiful, "unladylike," and unapologetic she is. #dontletthecutefacefoolyou

Nitty ScottMC

Very similar to Princess Nokia, you'd never guess the voice behind the record if you

had judge by her looks. I discovered her about a few months ago, shortly before her new project Creature dropped. Nitty Scott is all about "PXSSY POWAH," femininity, and

afro-latina culture.

Denitia and Sene

I am new to this group. I just put myself on to them last week actually. I am not sure what genre they are classified as or how to describe them, but check them out. Very mellow music, reminds me of shopping music you'd hear in H&M or something? They are kind of in the same direction as "Redbone".

Lianne La Havas

Hopefully, many of you have heard of her. She's been around for a good lil minute. Every time, I hear her voice I just melt. Definitely not opposed to having her sing at my wedding if John Legend can't come through. According to Spotify, her sound is "mostly acoustic and hushed hybrid of alternative folk and soul." If you like Corinne Bailey Rae, you'll enjoy her music.

"Scuse me while I feel myself" Lizzo makes nothing but feel good music. Like "I look good, I smell good, you can't tell me shit" type of music. Coconut Oil is my favorite project of hers. She is all bout being sexy and confident, size 2 or 22. Yara Shahidi just posted a cute video of her and her mom's "trailer chonicles" dancing to Truth Hurts.

Kari Faux

Also featured on Insecure, you may have heard her. She has an old-scool, 90's west coast vibe. Make ya wanna put on ya shades and take a cruise.

The Perico Princess. I recommend #CholaSeason (2014) I love her older stuff, which Spotify does not have on her profile. (If you can't tell by now, Spotify is my main music provider...) Any who, she's pretty underrated in my book. If Cardi an top the charts, she can too. I absolutely believe she could compete with Nicki... I don't like using the word compete but you catch my drift.

Aka the Darvwave Dutchess. I am not sure how to classify her music either. Just good music to vibe to. I also just learned she is from Atlanta, so I will be on the look out to see her perform.

Jamilla Woods

Very sad I missed her performance at Afropunk...long story. But I'm just getting hip to her. I learned she had a song with Chance (aka bae) and I was all in, cause he don't just feature on anybody tracks. But I def fuck with her and am glad I discovered her. I don't know if I am allowed to say this, but I think she could be like the modern day Erykah? Maybe?

Jorja Smith

Beaut-i-ful voice. Y'all may recognize her from Drake's, "Get it Together." It's easy for me to get lost in the sauce when I hear Teenage Fantasy. She kind of reminds me between a mix of Rihanna and Alicia Keys?

Kali Uchis

Selena + Amy Whinehouse + Lana Del Rey = Kali Uchis

Rainy Milo

Her new song Chakra >>>> Her sound can be described as "jazz-inspired hip-hop." Also nice, chill music to vibe to.

Kamaiyah is pretty up and coming as she was featured on the XXL Freshman 2017 cover. She delivers a feel good, west coast sound. My fav song is "Comeback" followed by "How Does it Feel." When I first heard it, it was on repeat every time I got in my car. A Good Night in The Hood--entire album was a bop. Some of her music sounds the same to me, but I love her and she brings out the natural born Cali thug in me. Check out her latest single, Successful.
